Roll Call: Pigeon Creek’s “Merry Wives of Windsor” on Oct. 16

The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company will hold auditions to cast 4 male actors, age 18 and up, in their winter touring production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. The characters the company is casting are Master Page, Dr. Caius, Slender, and Fenton. Click the link for a character breakdown of the show.

Auditions will be Saturday, October 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Dog Story Theater‘s new location, 7 Jefferson Ave. SE in downtown Grand Rapids.

Auditionees should prepare a 12-15 line Shakespearean monologue and bring a résumé and headshot. Rehearsals begin October 25, with performances at multiple venues in December and January. The production is an ensemble directed production.

All acting positions with the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company receive paid stipends.

Roll Call: She Has a Name for Burnt Thicket Theatre

A theatre company in Calgary, Alberta is looking for actors for a local production of an original play called She Has a Name. Burnt Thicket Theatre will produce the play for the International Justice Conference at Thornapple Covenant Church in Grand Rapids.

The production is in need of 6 Grand Rapids actors, 2 men and 4 women, to perform a staged reading of the Andrew Kooman play on October 9, 2010. The cast includes:

Jason (25 – 35): a young lawyer undertaking the investigation
Number 18 (20-25): young Cambodian prostitute working in Bangkok
Marta (30-50): overseer of investigation
Mamma (30-50): Thai woman who oversees the brothel
Ali (25-35): Jason’s wife
Pimp (35): Bangkok brothel owner
*All female roles also play members of the chorus of Voices

Auditions will be held September 21, 2010 from 7-10 p.m. at the new Dog Story Theatre location at 9 Jefferson Ave. SE in downtown Grand Rapids. Heritage Theater Announces 2010 Season: Finally!

After months of speculation and doubt, Heritage Theater Group has finally announced their 2010 season. Along with the requisite Shakespeare play (The Two Gentlemen of Verona), Heritage will present Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee’s Inherit the Wind and Stephen Vincent Benét’s Stories of America. No dates have been set for the performances.

Audition dates have been set for April 9, 10, and 11, but a location has yet to be secured. Check out the audition calendar for times and stay tuned to Spotlight on the Grand for updates as they become available.
