Roll Call: Actor’s Casting Frozen Oct 3rd and 4th

The Grand Rapids audition season certainly isn’t frozen, as Actor’s Theater begins preparations for their next show, Frozen by Bryony Lavery, on October 3 and 4.

Actor’s is making the most of the recession this season with a crop of plays this season that are just as challenging, but smaller in scale. Frozen marks the first show of the season that actually requires an audition. The currently running Top Dog/Underdog came to the Actor’s board by the actors who were cast in the shoe themselvesĀ  (actors Sammy Publes and Marcus Woodswelch).

As a result, this and the rest of the 09-10 season feature small casts. Only 4 actors are required for this difficult play about a British mother who’s 10-year-old daughter goes missing and how she copes with the loss. Nancy is the mother and she is visited by an American post-grad named Agnetha in England on research for her thesis entitled “Serial Killings: A Forgivable Act?” Rounding out the cast of characters is Ralph, a mysterious loner with a dark past and questionable tastes and a Guard.

Director Stephanie Sandberg returns to Actor’s to direct. Her previous recent credits include the period plays The Ladies of the Camellias, Elizabeth Rex, and the original world premiere production of Seven Passages: The Stories of Gay Christians.

Auditions will be held at Spectrum Theater at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4. There are no age specifications and you don’t have to make an appointment. Simply show up at the theater.
